C Results Celebrates… World Chocolate Day!
Today is World Chocolate Day, and with it we are excited to release our Delica-C World Chocolate Day Bars! Custom designed and printed at C Results, these delicious chocolate bars celebrate one of the world’s greatest foods, while raising awareness of Youth Mental Health and Headspace.
You might be surprised to know chocolate wasn’t invented by Gene Wilder or Johnny Depp. No, that cheap, chalky easter chocolate you still have sitting in your fridge has a 4000 year history back to ancient Mexico, where it was revered as a super food and eaten with chillis and cornmeal as a bitter soup. Yum. Fast forward to today, and chocolate is widely commoditised, available in almost every conceivable shape, form and flavour.
Increasingly, youth mental health challenges also come in every shape, form and flavour. And while eating chocolate is definitely not a one-size solution, with super-food properties linked to mental wellbeing it can definitely be part of the conversation.
Brain Food - the link between chocolate and mental wellbeing
Illustrated by our in-house designer and illustrator Kody, the theme for the chocolate packaging design is ‘Brain Food’, highlighting the link between chocolate and the cognitive benefits it can deliver for mental wellbeing.
Packed with phytochemicals, polyphenols, flavanols, and catechins (read the good stuff), cacao beans provide chocolate with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown consuming chocolate can help in protecting the brain, and are also linked to improving cognitive functions.
In particular, chocolate stimulates the release of dopamine from the brain, which is known to increase the production of endorphins that assists with reducing stress. When people feel mentally fit and balanced in their mental wellbeing, they can be more resilient, which means being better equipped to cope with life's circumstances.
Just as importantly, chocolate is a great tool as a conversation starter. Finding time to broach subjects that can be hard to talk about is difficult, so opening a casual conversation is often the best way to begin offering support for young people or their families who may be dealing with youth mental health difficulties.
Supporting Youth Mental Health and Headspace
Each year, youth mental health services around our state continue to post increasing numbers of services delivered or new branches opening. In addition to building awareness through the Delica-C chocolate bars, C Results has also made a $2000 donation to Headspace Midland. Operated by Youth Mental Health services charity Youth Focus, Headspace Midland is the local Headspace centre for the C Results Office.
‘We’re a young business, C Results currently has 5 team members in their early 20’s, as well as other team members with young families’ said business owner Matt Cahill. ‘My wife and I have 4 kids between 25 and 17 and have had our own exposure to youth mental health at a variety of levels.’
‘Headspace and Youth Focus offer an invaluable service to our young people’ said Matt. ‘Headspace Midland is close to our office so we thought it would be nice to direct some support locally’.
‘While these chocolate bars are a bit of fun, more importantly they help raise awareness for a serious topic’ added Chris Hebbard ’We’ve got three young lads of our own and as blokes it can be hard to talk about mental health. Creating an opportunity to have a casual conversation and raise awareness of the importance of mental health is valuable. The fact that we can send a bit of support to Headspace at the same time means a lot to us.’
“Youth Focus relies heavily on the generosity of the community to enable us to continue to expand and provide critical support for young people. This meaningful (and delicious!) awareness campaign will help us to ensure vulnerable Western Australians who need our help have the very best chance of receiving it.”
Addy Wetzler, Chief Development Officer, Youth Focus

About Youth Focus
Youth Focus delivers frontline services and education programs which aim to reduce symptoms associated with suicide, depression, anxiety and self-harm, and build long-term mental wellbeing to help young people reach their full potential.
In addition to our core service offering of free face-to-face counselling, we engage with communities to educate and build awareness about youth mental health issues and suicide prevention. As part of this engagement, we deliver education programs in schools and communities across Western Australia.
